In 2016, we went to the Masai Mara Natural Reserve in Kenya. Our safari guide (and very good friend), Samson, took us to a Masai village to learn how other people lived.  We brought soccer balls with us and something amazing happened! 

The Masai boys and girls were kicking around pieces of junk and trash instead of a real soccer balls. They were looking us over…and they weren’t quite sure what to make of us. As soon as we inflated a few soccer balls, that all changed!  Even though we didn’t speak the same language, we started playing as teams; kicking, heading, laughing. After a few hours, we were holding arms and learning about each other. We made friends and we were sad to leave.
